Joseph Yi (PhD, University of Chicago) is an associate professor of political science at Hanyang University (Seoul), co-moderator of Heterodox East Asia Community, and the recipient of Heterodox Academy's 2025 Open Inquiry Award for Courage. Yi has authored God and Karate on the Southside (2009) and more than 34 academic articles. His commentary has also appeared in Asia Times, Japan Forward, Korea Herald, Korea Times, Nikkei Asia, NK News, South China Morning Post, The Diplomat, The Hill, and The UnPopulist.
