The trip comes as Washington presses Seoul to move faster on investment commitments and pursues additional trade measures, including an investigation into industrial overcapacity that could lead to new tariffs. Kim’s visit follows the abrupt removal of Trade Minister Yeo Han-koo, who was dismissed effective Saturdayafter overseeing tariff and non-tariff negotiations with Washington.
