The announcement followed after more than 84% of ballots counted after polls closed at 8 p.m. According to exit polls from SBS, one of South Korea’s three main broadcasters, Lee received 48.3% of the vote, compared to People Power Party candidate Kim Moon-soo’s 42.8% at around 1:45 a.m. Final confirmationof Lee’s win (당선 확정) is expected after a formal National Election Commission meeting between 7 a.m and 9 © Korea Risk Group.
