President Yoon Suk-yeol met with the chairman of the Korean Intern Resident Association’s Emergency Response Committee on Thursday to discuss healthcare reforms, including the proposed increase in medical school enrollment. The meeting lasted more than two hours.
During the meeting, Yoon listened to the problems facing the current medical system and exchanged opinions on improving medical residents’ treatment and working conditions. Yoon expressed his intention to “respect” the position of medical residents when discussing healthcare reforms with the medical community in the future.
