Presidential Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik offered his resignation to President Lee Jae Myung on Monday, days after two high-profile Cabinet nominees withdrew amid controversies over the administration’s personnel choices. Lee said later Monday that Kang had expressed his desire to leave but that he had not decided whether to accept the resignation.

Kang personally announced the Aug. 30 reshuffle that included justice minister nominee Kim Seung-won and gender equality minister nominee Yong Hye-in.
