South Korea and Japan agreed to deepen cooperation on supply chains and reaffirmed Seoul’s intent to pursue accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), National Security Adviser Wi Sung-lac said Wednesday, following summit talks between ROK President Lee Jae Myung and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.

Wi said the CPTPP was discussed in a “positive tone” but without detailed negotiations, adding that further consultations would be handled at the working level among relevant ministries. He said supply chain cooperation was recognized by both leaders as an important area for collaboration, reflecting both countries’ high trade dependence
