Briefings Lee-Xi summit seeks stability as South Korea moves to stabilize China tiesThe state visit prioritized procedural dialogue and risk containment over resolving deeper strategic disputes South Korean President Lee Jae-myung met Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Beijing on Monday during a state visit that marked Lee’s first head-of-state meeting of the year and the two leaders’ second meeting in two months. The 90-minute summit was followed by the signing of 15 cooperation documents, including 14 memoranda of understanding covering trade, transport, technology, environment and people-to-people exchanges. The two leaders agreed to expand cultural and content exchanges gradually, beginning with areas acceptable to both sides, and to continue constructive consultations on Chinese steel structures in the Yellow Sea.
