Briefings South Korea deepens defense ties with Canada through new industrial dealSeoul’s outreach signals continued westward expansion of defense diplomacy to secure role in Ottawa’s submarine projects South Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) said it held a series of meetings in Ottawa from Nov. 5 to 7 aimed at expanding defense industry cooperation with Canada. The delegation, led by DAPA Commissioner Seok Jong-geon, met with Canadian officials and research institutes, attended the ROK-Canada Defense and Defense Industry Cooperation Conference, and co-hosted a defense industry roadshow with the Canadian Commercial Corporation. During the visit, Hanwha Ocean signed an agreement with Canadian construction firm PCL to cooperate on naval maintenance and support infrastructure, while Hyundai Heavy Industries signed a memorandum with Celestica to jointly develop maritime defense technologies. © Korea Risk Group.
