South Korea’s government said Thursday it has restored nearly one-quarter of the 709 digital systems crippled by last month’s lithium-battery fire at the National Information Resources Service (NIRS) data center in Daejeon. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety said engineers have completed data recovery for the center’s integrated operations management platform, known as nTOPS, allowing authorities to map the configuration and location of damaged servers. Officials reported that 193 systems were back online as of 6 a.m., including key e-government platforms such as On-nara Document, On-mail, the Internet Post Office and the 1365 Volunteer Portal.
