Briefings South Korea presses US for visa reforms as ROK firms face fallout from raidCompanies urge new visa categories after ICE raid, but US politics and election pressures threaten progress South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun on Tuesday met representatives of major Korean companies in Washington, D.C., to discuss visa issues following last week’s U.S. immigration raid at Hyundai Motor Group and LG Energy Solution’s battery plant in Georgia. Attendees included executives from Hyundai, LG, Samsung, SK, POSCO, Hanwha, Korean Air, as well as the Korea International Trade Association and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency. Cho emphasized that the government is prioritizing the safe and swift return of more than 300 South Korean nationals detained in Georgia and pledged efforts to ensure they do not face re-entry penalties.
