Briefings National Tax Service data highlights South Korea’s small-business strainFood service, wholesale and real estate show persistent closures, highlighting weak demand despite overall stability South Korea’s National Tax Service (NTS) said Wednesday it will begin providing monthly economic indicators, including data on business openings and closures, cash receipt issuance, credit card usage, electronic tax invoices and import and export activity. The agency said the figures, previously available only annually or not at all, will be shared with government ministries, local governments and later published on its website. In June, the number of business closures rose to about 67,000, up 5,000 from May, with food service, wholesale, real estate and construction among the hardest hit.
