Koo Yun-cheol and Kim Jung-gwan set to steer Lee’s AI, energy and growth agenda if confirmed by the National Assembly
President Lee Jae-myung appointed on Sunday former budget official Koo Yun-cheol to lead the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MOEF) and Kim Jung-gwan, Doosan Enerbility’s marketing division head, to lead the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE).
According to the presidential office, Koo is currently a visiting professor of economics at Seoul National University and previously held senior roles at MOEF, including second vice minister and head of the Office for Government Policy Coordination. Meanwhile, Kim also previously served at MOEF before joining Doosan Enerbility, one of South Korea’s largest power and infrastructure conglomerates.
