Hana Financial Group and SK Telecom have reportedly acquired stakes in BitGo Korea, becoming major shareholders in the digital asset custody firm. Hana Financial secured a 25% stake, while SK Telecom took a 10% stake, as announced by BitGo CEO Mike Belshe at the Korea Blockchain Week 2024 in Seoul. The move aims to strengthen BitGo Korea’s position in the digital asset market and promote the institutionalization of virtual assets in South Korea.

BitGo Korea stated that the strategic investments by Hana Financial and SK Telecom underscore the growing importance of regulatory compliance in the virtual asset sector. The partnership will leverage BitGo’s global expertise in digital asset technology and Hana Financial's financial services and compliance experience to enhance the security and transparency of digital asset transactions.
