Seoul looks to Bucharest for defense and energy cooperation, even as legal disputes with Westinghouse persist
South Korea and Romania held the 10th ROK-Romania Industrial Cooperation Committee meeting in Seoul on Monday to discuss expanding cooperation in trade, investment, industry and energy. The two countries aim to deepen their strategic partnership, established in 2008, by building on existing collaboration in the automotive parts and steel sectors and exploring new areas such as industrial technology, nuclear power, defense and infrastructure.
The meeting addressed bilateral trade growth, the impact of EU regulations on free trade and potential research and development cooperation in various fields. Romania introduced its energy mix policy, while South Korea emphasized its competitiveness in the nuclear power sector and expressed interest in contributing to Romania’s military modernization through weapons systems, local investment, technology transfer and joint exports to third countries.
