South Korea’s tech partnership with the US highlights broader strategic tensions in ROK-China relations
The U.S. and South Korea initiated on Friday the U.S.-ROK Next Generation Critical and Emerging Technologies (CET) Dialogue in Seoul, led by National Security Advisors Jake Sullivan and Cho Tae-yong. This dialogue, stemming from a commitment by Presidents Joe Biden and Yoon Suk-yeol, focuses on key areas such as semiconductor technology, biotechnology and artificial intelligence to enhance bilateral technological cooperation.
Discussions also covered the protection of sensitive technologies, including the Disruptive Technology Protection Network. The meeting saw participation from high-level officials across various ministries, marking a step in advancing the technology partnership and commemorating 70 years of U.S.-ROK relations.
