Poland’s incoming government may annul contracts signed by the previous Law and Justice (PiS) Party administration, according to Parliament Speaker Szymon Holownia. This decision could impact arms deals with South Korea, which were part of Poland’s military enhancement in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The deals in question include significant arms purchases worth billions of dollars.

There are concerns that changes in government and potential financial constraints might jeopardize these contracts. South Korea is reportedly assisting Poland in financing a $22 billion weapons purchase, indicating efforts to mitigate financial obstacles. Poland’s prospective new defense minister, Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, emphasized the importance of investing in Poland’s arms industry, suggesting a possible shift in defense procurement policies.
