Jang Dong-hyuk, a spokesperson for the ruling People Power Party (PPP), issued a statement on Sept. 28, criticizing opposition Democratic Party (DP) leader Lee Jae-myung following the Seoul Central District Court’s decision to reject an arrest warrant against him. Jang emphasized that while the DP propels a narrative of Lee’s innocence, the ongoing situation further illuminates Lee’s alleged misdeeds.
Jang contested Lee’s previous claims, where he had dismissed the prosecutors’ probe as a fabricated story, pointing out that during the warrant review, the court acknowledged several criminal allegations against Lee as factual. Jang called for Lee’s apology and resignation. The spokesperson also criticized the DP’s stance, urging them to disclose members who may have inappropriately intervened with testimonies. Jang also emphasized that rejecting an arrest warrant does not equate to innocence and appealed to the DP to refrain from inciting the public.
