South Korean defense minister Lee Jong-sup will embark on an official visit to Poland from Aug. 30 to Sept. 2, according to a press briefing by a defense ministry spokesperson on Wednesday. On Aug. 31, Lee will inspect ongoing preparations by South Korean firms participating in the 31st International Defence Industry Exhibition (MSPO) — Poland’s annual national defense exhibition — and later meet with Polish defense minister Mariusz Blaszczak. The meeting will focus on fortifying the two countries’ strategic defense partnership and broadening defense cooperation.
Lee will also meet with South Korean defense companies’ representatives in Warsaw the following day. This meeting aims to support ROK businesses venturing into the Polish market, address their operational challenges and strategize further defense export growth. This visit underscores the South Korean government’s vision to intensify defense collaboration with Poland and seize prospective opportunities in weapons system exports, fostering an environment conducive to the persistent growth of the ROK’s defense sector.
