South Korea and Saudi Arabia have resumed their Military Cooperation Committee after a pause of four years, discussing potential avenues for defense industry cooperation and military exchanges. The ROK Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) reported that the second meeting between South Korea and Saudi Arabia’s Military Cooperation Committee was held in Seoul. High-level representatives from both countries were present, including ROK Air Force Major General Lee Young-soo and Saudi Air Force Brigadier General Hamed Rafea A. AlAmri. During the visit, the Saudi delegation evaluated the preparedness of the Korean military and the performance of South Korea’s missile defense system.
The representatives from both countries expressed optimistic views regarding the partnership and its potential growth. The meeting came in the wake of the agreement to standardize ministerial-level consultations between the defense ministries of both nations in March.
