Newly-elected ruling People Power Party (PPP) leader Kim Gi-hyeon met with main opposition Democratic Party (DP) leader Lee Jae-myung at the latter’s office on Wednesday. They agreed to strengthen bipartisan cooperation on livelihood issues. Kim proposed biweekly meetings to discuss and cooperate on pending issues.
Kim asked Lee for the DP's cooperation in swiftly approving less controversial bills and Lee called for an emergency bipartisan meeting on economic affairs. The party leaders did not discuss thornier issues, such as the Yoon administration’s compensation plan for victims of Japan’s wartime forced labor or corruption allegations surrounding Lee.
