A growing advocacy campaign is pushing for LGBTQ rights in South Korea, led by diplomats of some of the country's closest allies.

During Wendy Sherman’s latest visit to South Korea, the U.S. deputy secretary of state met with LGBTQ civil society leaders to "highlight the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion and mark Pride Month,” according to the State Department. South Korea's first transgender celebrity Harisu joined the event and helped hoist the Progress Flag, a more inclusive redesign of the rainbow flag.
