Ruling People Power Party (PPP) interim leader Han Dong-hoon announced on Tuesday campaign pledges aimed at combating climate change and endorsing renewable energy. These initiatives propose to significantly increase the national budget for climate response, elevating it from the current $1.8 billion (2.4 trillion won) to $3.76 billion (5 trillion won) by 2027.
Additionally, the party’s pledge includes revising the electricity pricing model to encourage using non-carbon energy sources, such as nuclear and wind power, alongside a push for increased investments in the hydrogen energy sector.
