South Korea’s presidential office announced on Monday that it had successfully overseen the evacuation of 28 South Korean citizens and an unspecified number of Japanese nationals from Sudan. Codenamed Operation Promise, the evacuation followed the sudden escalation of conflict between the Sudanese army and a paramilitary group.
